US Will Grant Bulgaria Technical and Material Assistance in Fighting Corruption.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and Andrew Natsios, Administrator at the US Agency for International Development (USAID) signed an agreement on cooperation in a new anti-corruption initiative for enhancing the efficiency of the Bulgarian authorities in fighting corruption and support for NGOs working in this field. The three-year programme is worth 6.8 million US dollars and provides for Bulgaria to receive technical assistance, training and limited material assistance. The anti-corruption programme will help set up internal audit structures at Bulgarian ministries. The main purpose of the initiative is to increase transparency and restrict corruption opportunities in the public administration.
