A delegation of Turkish experts will arrive in Sofia on October 13 to hold talks with experts from Bulgaria's National Electricity Transmission Company in a bid to resolve the thorny issues in the execution of 1998 intergovernmental agreement power-for-infrastructure. The General Director of Turkey's national electricity transmission company TETAS and Turkey's Deputy Energy Minister will be on the delegation. Turkey unilaterally cut power supplies from Bulgaria on April 21, claiming that Sofia had defaulted on the commitment to award infrastructure projects to Turkish companies. Bulgaria and Turkey resumed talks over the 1998 intergovernmental agreement power-for-infrastructure but failed to fix the volume and price of exported supplies. The Turkish side has informed the Bulgarian side of its decision to discuss technical issues in the agreement in a letter last week. The visit comes in the wake of a letter Bulgarian Energy Minister Milko Kovachev sent to his Turkish counterpart Hilmi Guler in September.
