Investment funds’ AuM at BGN 5.2bn in end-Sep, up 20% YoY

In end-Sep 2020 the assets under management of domestic and foreign investment funds reached BGN 5.3bn (4.7% of 2020 GDPe), up 20% YoY and 12.2% QoQ. Domestic investment funds accounted for BGN 1.7bn, up 1.5% YoY and 2.2% QoQ. Domestic equity funds accounted for 39% of AuM in end-Sep (38% in Sep 2019), while domestic bond funds were 40.7% of AuM (42% in Sep 2019). The remaining 20% were invested in a group, aggregating balanced funds, real estate funds and others. In terms of asset allocation 43.1% of domestic AuM were invested in equity (40.1% in Sep 2019), 10% in other investment funds (10.6% in Sep 2019), 36.3% in non-equity securities (34.3% in Sep 2019) and 9.7% were held in deposits (13.9% in Sep 2019). Geographically-wise 62.1% of investments were held in Bulgarian securities (63.5% in Sep 2019) and 29.3% in EU securities (28.4% in Sep 2019). That said, less than 8% of AuM was denominated in currencies different from BGN and EUR.
