Bulgarian consumer price inflation fell to 4.1% YoY last month, below the 4.2-4.4% analysts had forecast, as European Union entry helped lead to cheaper food imports, news agency Reuters reported on Thursday. A drop in food and cigarette prices drove the inflation further down in March after it eased to 4.5% a month earlier, statistics office data showed on Thursday. Consumer prices edged down by 0.1% MoM. Food prices decreased 0.4% on the month and prices of non-food fell 0.2%, mainly due to a drop in prices of cigarettes following liberalisation of the market. Prices of services rose 0.5%. Under the EU-harmonised price index, annual inflation was 4.4% in March, down from 4.6% a month earlier, while it was unchanged on the month after edging up by 0.5% in February.
