China’s state telecommunications company China Telecom and a consortium between Korea’s second-largest mobile phone operator KTF and Samsung electronics producer are interested in the planned sell-off of the Bulgarian telecom monopoly, BTC, Transport Minister Plamen Petrov said. Minister Petrov was a member of the Bulgarian delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Nikolay Vassilev, that visited China and South Korea last week, seeking to promote business ties. China has also pledged to lower gradually its import duties for Bulgarian wines and medicines to boost Bulgarian exports. Import duties now vary between 20% and 66% and will be reduced to 4% over two years, Deputy Economy Minister Keremedchiev said.
