The Irish company Cable & Wireless is to become the major competitor of the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC). Immediately after BTC monopoly ends in end-2002, Cable & Wireless will be able to propose fixed line network and data transfer at lower prices than those of BTC. Sources claim that the Greek OTE will buy out the investment of Cable & Wireless an intends to become a real competitor of BTC in the fixed line service as it presently has no chances to buy the Bulgarian telecom.
