Local wireless carriers Mobiltel and vivatel have announced new roaming tariffs equal to the limit charges set by the European Union. They will bill customers BGN 0.56 per minute for calls received abroad and BGN 1.15 per minute for calls made. Globul was the only one of the three local cellular carriers to offer tariffs cheaper than the EU caps. The company will charge BGN 0.52 per minute for calls received and BGN 1.08 per minute for calls made. The telecoms were obliged to submit their new roaming tariffs by July 23 to the local regulator. The new roaming charges, which became law in all 27 EU member states on June 30, will take effect here on September 1. The telecom regulator said it will produce an opinion on the tariff proposals within two days of submission.
