According to preliminary data, Bulgaria's gross domestic product in 2000 increased 5.8% from 1999, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said Saturday. Last year the GDP stood at BGN 25,453,600,000, equal to USD 11,983,800,000 calculated on the basis of the annual average exchange rate of BGN 2.124 for 1 USD. The per capita GDP amounted to BGN 3,100 (USD 1,459). The added value generated by the national economy totalled BGN 22,532,600,000, 6.7% up from 1999. The private sector accounted for 69.3% of the added value in the economy.
